REVIEW - ANIMAL COLLECTIVE: CENTIPEDE HZ

Suspect I’ll never get them and, equally, never grasp why they’ve reached where they are.

REVIEW - DAN DEACON: AMERICA

He was oddly positioned before, straddling and linking the seemingly disparate, but this is even more so.

DEMIS ROUSSOS ON THE GREEK SIDE OF MY MIND ON RPM INTERNATIONAL

RPM International is issuing Demis Roussos’ debut album On The Greek Side Of My Mind. The release date is 24 September 2012.

Before Greece’s progressive rock legends Aphrodite’s Child bowed out in 1972 with the double concept album 666, their singer Demis Roussos had already made his own, solo, concept album, On The Greek Side Of My Mind. He became an international star in 1973 with “Forever And Ever”, but 1971’s unsung On The Greek Side Of My Mind was where his solo career began.

Made in Paris with Aphrodite’s Child lyricist Boris Bergman and the band’s drummer Lucas Sidéras, On The Greek Side Of My Mind is the missing link between Aphrodite’s Child and his solo success - even though it was made while Aphrodite’s Child were still going.

On The Greek Side Of My Mind is a dramatic exploration of Demis Roussos’s roots, the legends of his home country and the journey he was on, weaving the themes of Greek folk into an orchestrated progressive pop that transports with its rich imagery. As psychedelic as it was atmospheric, On The Greek Side Of My Mind is essential to The Aphrodite’s Child jigsaw and essential for any fan of Roussos.
